Mt Rushmore Night 1000W

"As I watch Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint climb the faces of Mt. Rushmore I realize: I've never been to Mt. Rushmore but B-K Lighting has!" remarked B-K Lighting Marketing Manager, Becky Carlson.

"So I decided an adventure was in order and planned a film-filled quest to Deadwood, South Dakota with a few major destinations in mind: Devils Tower (as seen in Close Encounters of the Third Kind) and of course, Mount Rushmore." and off she went, family in tow.

If you’ve never been, as you arrive at Mt. Rushmore from the East you are graced with the “majestic figures of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln, surrounded by the beauty of the Black Hills of South Dakota. [Their faces] tell the story of the birth, growth, development and preservation of this country.” (nps.gov)

"It was truly an awesome sight, and we have American artist and sculptor John Gutzon Borglum to thank. He started his project in 1927 and worked on it until his death in 1941." Carlson reflects.

Three Sign Star™ Style ‘C’ fixtures, featuring the evolutionary L.O.C.K.™ (Locking O-Ring Compression Knuckle), provide the accent lighting to the bronze memorial bust of Borglum that sits just outside the viewing trail of his most famous work. In addition, a series of Core Drill Step Stars™ are tucked neatly above in the alcove housing the bust and provide downlighting, while the hood provides full shielding and cutoff.

A bit of Mount Rushmore Trivia...

The entire project cost US $989,992.

More than 400 men and women created the sculpture.

Behind the carved faces is a hidden room that was intended by sculptor Gutzon Borglum to be a “Hall of Records,” so that people in the future would know all plans and intentions of the Mt. Rushmore sculpture (nps.gov).
