QUESTION: For the Power of 'X' fixtures, do I need a transformer?
ANSWER:
The short answer is no. However with Power of 'X' fixtures a driver IS required.
An LED driver is an electrical device which regulates the power to an LED. An LED driver responds to the changing needs of the LED, or LED circuit, by providing a constant quantity of power to the LED as its electrical properties change with temperature.
With our Power of ‘X’ (and Power of 'C' fixtures) the driver is not supplied within the fixture. When the driver is considered ‘integral’ no additional power supply is required. However, when one of these fixtures is considered ‘remote’ (meaning the driver is not attached to the fixture itself) a BKSSL® remote dedicated driver is required for example with UPM™ or HP2™ housing.
In these cases, it is considered 1:1, one driver to one Power of ‘X’ (or Power of 'C') lighting source.
