QUESTION: What are the differences between a Nite Star™ and Nite Star II™?
This project utilizes many different types of B-K Lighting products that include Aristar™, Delta Star™, CO2 and a custom Saratoga (c1843-20) along with low voltage Power Pipe™ in –grade junction boxes. Also specified are forty-four Nite Star II™ flood lights.
To understand the differences between a Nite Star™ and a Nite Star II™ we must first differentiate the different types of Nite Stars that are available.
The first type, Nite Star™ Halogen (MR16), is synonymous with B-K Lighting and is widely recognized as an ideal flood light design because of its unibody construction, sealed optical chamber, fully adjustable and patented 360SL™ knuckle and RoHS compliant, 15 stage chromate-free powder coat finish. The halogen flood light requires 20 – 50W depending on what type of MR16 lamp is used within its fully machined, flush lens aluminum cap.
Nite Star™ Solid State (BKSSL®) shares the same physical characteristics as the halogen version but is distinguished by its power of ‘e’ LED and the patented Adjust-e-lume®. This integral design permits dynamic lumen response at the individual fixture without the need for an external dimming device, indexed 100% to 25% nominal. Output intensity is preset prior to shipment per specification order.
Nite Star II™ was specially created with lighting control in mind and features an extended cap with a 1” recess. This design helps to regulate aperture brightness, especially when the fixture is installed in areas where aiming may point back towards the human eye. Additionally, the NSII includes an internal matte spacer that provides a platform for lens or shielding media. Both the NS and the NSII are capable of accommodating up to two lens or shielding media each.
