The lead article for the Starlines for the month of March 2014 detailed one of the very first Lite Star™ prototypes and several of its differences from the modern design specifiers continue to call out on projects all over the country.
One such design element discussed is the orientation of the Lite Star™ when used specifically as a down light. As our specification sheets state under Mounting options, "Downlight; Cuff required for below horizontal aiming."
For those unfamiliar, the Lite Star™ dissipates heat through the use of a perforated body and includes a special spray shield to keep moisture from entering the fixture. As one can imagine when the fixture is inverted the ventilation windows would allow the fixture to retain moisture. The cuff prevents this from occurring.
