DO YOU DARE?

Not all lighting fixtures are created equal. But that can be hard to tell, when just looking at a spec sheet. The Sphere, by German sculptor Fritz Koenig, is a large metallic sculpture that stands 25 feet tall, weighing 45,000 pounds and cast in 52 bronze segments. Displayed in Battery Park, New York City, it once stood in the courtyard of the Twin Towers since 1968. After the September 11, 2001 attack, it was salvaged from the rubble of the fallen towers and six months to the day after the attacks, it was re-erected in Battery Park, near the Hope Garden, several blocks away from where it once stood. In September 11th, 2002, an eternal flame was lit inside of the Sphere, in honor of all who was lost in the tragic attacks.
