Stability Simplifies the Installation Process for In-Grades

B-K Lighting patent-pending Stability Flange™ makes installing Tenaya2 and Precision2 in-grades housings faster and easier than any other product on the market. The Stability Flange™ provides a leg-up on other in-grade manufacturers for both concrete and soil applications.

Most likely you have walked across an in-grade fixture in a pathway or seen the effects of an in-grade installed in the ground illuminating landscaped vignettes. But have you ever thought about the installation process and what is required for the faceplate to sit flush with grade? B-K Lighting has researched the installation process, and it lead to one of our most innovative designs - the Stability Flange™.

The process is simple. In-grade fixtures require a hole and a trench large enough to accommodate the housing and the conduit. Naturally the hole is excavated deeper than the housing. Therefore, the housing is often propped up with bricks, 2 by 4’s or anything lying around the construction site. Not very precise nor practical. The Stability Flange™ offers two methods depending on your application type.

For Soil Applications:
The Stability Flange™ is designed to elevate the product to the desired height and lock in place for a quick and easy installation by inserting four sections of ½” PVC into the circular openings. With a hammer, drive the PVC into the ground until secure creating a stable apparatus to elevate the housing to the desired height. When the top of the yellow temporary cover is level with finished grade, tighten screws on Stability Flange™ to secure housing in place. Remove excess PVC as needed. For Concrete Applications:
Install rebar braces at desired height. The underside of the Stability Flange™ contains integral saddles allowing the housing to rest on the rebar braces. Secure the housing to the rebar. The Stability Flange™ provides additional housing stability when installed in concrete. This is especially important in drive-over installations.
