For the past decade, our employees have made an annual donation to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. This year we extended the challenge to our partners in business asking "Can you spare half a penny?" and B-K Lighting will match the donation.
The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund announced a new initiative to provide enhanced medical support to the troops who are returning from Iraq and Afghanistan and have suffered traumatic brain injuries incurred in battle. The fund most recently opened the National Intrepid Center of Excellence to support the research, diagnosis and treatment of military personnel and veterans suffering from traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post-traumatic stress (PTS). After completing construction of and opening the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE), the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund worked closely with military leadership to determine how best to further expand care. The Fund took to designing and building additional centers that will serve as satellites to NICoE and located at some of the major military bases around the country.
The first two Satellite Centers are located at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia and Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
Our sales agents committed to contribute half a penny of every dollar in earned commissions for 12 months to the fund. Vendors and employees have made one time donations to facilitate the challenge. First quarter donations are nearly $3000 with the B-K match. "The sales agents who committed to the program have exceeded my expectations." said Becky Carlson, Marketing Manager. "They believe in our mission to never forget and to support the brave men and women of our country."
If you missed the opportunity to participate in the challenge during the initial invitation, it's not too late. Find out how you can be part of the challenge by clicking here. Personal donations are accepted. The drive will end on August 31, 2013. B-K Lighting, TEKA Illumination, Star Finishes and Blue Dolphin Engineering will host the 11th annual 911 We Will Never Forget Memorial Event on Wednesday, September 11, 2013.
